Wonder Woman 3 Can Only Happen from Fan Pressure, Says Lynda Carter

While the new DC movie universe isn’t coming until 2025 with Superman, there’s still a hope for the old films to live on, either in their own pocket universe or in the new breed of movies. Or more specifically, there’s still a hope that Wonder Woman’s story will live on.

Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, Lynda Carter was asked about the currently-dead Wonder Woman 3. To her, the only way to get it to happen is if DC fans do what they do best: rally together and raise enough demand that James Gunn and Peter Safran consider putting the movie onto their eventual release schedule. “I just don’t think they have the mind to do it,” she stated, “unless there’s enough pressure from fans.”

Carter doesn’t name any particular fan movement, but it’s easy to imagine the Snyder Cut effort running through her mind, if not ones for once-canceled shows like Warrior Nun and Community. More than anything, she feels like the two Gal Gadot-led movies were a “great franchise” that offer something specific to the superhero genre. “Wonder Woman is different from other characters,” she explained. “She’s not just a superhero. Her whole thing is about peaceful solutions. She’s not aggressive to be aggressive. It’s a different story. It’s about inner strength, outer strength. I don’t know why they tabled it.”

Wonder Woman 3 was officially (and publicly) declared as dead last year when Gadot and director Patty Jenkins were making it seem like the film was going to be a reality. The reality was, Gunn has no Wonder Woman-related projects in the works beyond the Paradise Lost series focused on a group of Amazons before Diana’s birth. Jenkins has since moved on to potentially kick up a Rogue Squadron movie for Disney again, while Gadot is off doing other movies. Whatever future Diana has in theaters, it’ll likely be sans Gadot and Jenkins, and possibly even Carter, save for an eventual cameo.
