When an astronaut goes missing on his first space mission, his family thinks they’ve lost him forever—until his sister starts getting mysterious messages from him. It’s at first endearing but quickly turns sinister as the sister realizes communication is only possible because her brother has been kidnapped, and the aliens who have him want something in return.
That’s the very cool plot to Meanwhile on Earth, the new film from writer-director Jérémy Clapin, who made the Oscar-nominated animated film I Lost My Body. The sister, Elsa, is played by newcomer Megan Northam and in this trailer she already looks like she’s got the star thing down. That’s because she’s got to decide what’s more important: getting her brother back? Or stop aliens from taking over the world?
That’s just a damn good trailer. We’re anxious to find out how that’s all gonna play out. Do you agree?
Meanwhile on Earth opens in theaters September 13.
