Hasbro’s been on a tear with Transformers mashups in the last few years, giving us transforming robot takes on Dracula, the vehicles and dinos of Jurassic Park, and even the Ninja Turtles. But the series’ next mashup isn’t a robot… it’s a spinning top.
More specifically, as io9 can exclusively reveal, it’s part of Hasbro’s next big push from the world of the competitive spinning top series, Beyblade. Two new Beyblade X XTreme Battle Sets of special Transformers Tops will include blade, ratchet, and bit parts inspired by characters from across the Transformers universe—one pack with Optimus Primal and Starscream, and another with Optimus Prime and Megatron. Each two-pack includes the customizable Beyblade X Tops—which can be modified with parts from other compatible Beyblade X Tops—and their matching launchers, ready to spin into battle. They may not transform, sure, but it’s the thought that counts! A transforming Beyblade might be a bit too much of an advantage over even the craziest Tops, alas.
Check out a teaser below:
Each two-pack of the new Transformers Beyblade X sets will cost $25, and are set hit shelves in July 2024. Before that, however, Beyblade fans will be able to use the new Beyblade X app, launching on June 1 on iOS and Android, to scan their Tops and keep track of their collection (including the Transformers sets when they release), earn digital rewards, and use their digitized Tops to battle other Beyblade fans online across the world.
