It wasn’t that long ago that we got our first look at Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie, and here we are with another! This one comes courtesy of D23 Brazil, and functions as a colorful showcase for our cast of MCU antiheroes…and also some guy.
Directed by Jake Schreier, the film sees Yelena Belova still working as a government assassin while struggling with civilian life after the events of Hawkeye. Her next assignment puts her in the surprising path of some familiar faces: Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) from Ant-Man & the Wasp, Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), ex-Captain America John Walker (Wyatt Russell), and the still mysterious Bob (Lewis Pullman). Suddenly, things get weird, and the group finds themselves forced to work together as someone tries to wipe them out. This eventually pulls Bucky (Sebastian Stan) and Yelena’s adoptive dad Red Guardian (David Harbour) into the fray, and more chaos will surely unfold.
Unlike the first trailer, this one highlights the four assassins and shows what makes them such effective killers. It also ends up answering two big questions: why are they called the Thunderbolts, and who the hell bought Avengers Tower? The first is admittedly funny; Guardian declares them that because he thinks it’s a cool name (and it is), which the others aren’t having. As for the second, it’s none other than Yelena’s boss Valentina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and she’s more than happy in her new digs. Sure would be a shame if it got all shot up at some point.
Marvel’s Thunderbolts hits theaters on May 2, 2025.
