Samsung Unveils AI-Powered Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 And Book4 Edge at IFA 2024

At IFA 2024, Samsung unveiled two new Galaxy Book PCs, showcasing its commitment to integrating AI into everyday technology. The Galaxy Book5 Pro 360, developed in collaboration with Intel, features an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor, providing enhanced AI-driven productivity, cross-device experiences, and long battery life. With Galaxy AI, it is able to deliver personalized user experiences and features high-quality graphics and displays, making it ideal for both work and entertainment.

The laptop retains several features from its predecessor, including the convertible design that allows it to function as a tablet, with a touchscreen and S Pen support for added flexibility when writing or drawing. The S Pen is included in the box by default.

Powered by the new second-generation Intel Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 processors, the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 delivers up to 48 TOPS of AI processing—This enables the integration of the Copilot+ feature, which supports advanced AI functions within the operating system. These functions include Studio Effects for background blur and filter application during video calls, access to Cocreator in Paint, and real-time caption translation in videos and calls.

Additionally, the “Circle to Search” feature has been introduced, allowing users to easily locate items on the screen by circling what they want to search for. Originally launched with the Galaxy S24 series smartphones, this feature is now available on Samsung’s Copilot+ PCs.

Samsung is also expanding its lineup of Arm-based laptops with the launch of the 15-inch Galaxy Book4 Edge. This affordable device features Copilot+ and mid-range hardware, aiming to popularize Windows on Arm.

The laptop has a 15.6-inch Full HD display with a 60Hz refresh rate and 300 nits brightness, though the display technology remains unspecified. A 2 MP webcam capable of recording in Full HD is housed in the device’s thick bezels. The keyboard includes a compact numeric pad, enhancing productivity, along with a dedicated shortcut key for Copilot, the AI-powered chatbot in Windows 11, which comes pre-installed.

It includes a neural processing unit (NPU) offering 45 TOPS of computing power for AI functions, such as Microsoft’s Cocreator in Paint for generating images from text, Windows Studio Effects, and Live Captions.

Users can connect Galaxy smartphones to the PC using Link to Windows, gaining access to popular Galaxy AI features like Simultaneous Translation, Photo Assistant, and Circle to Search on Google, provided they have a Galaxy AI-compatible device.

The laptop comes with 16 GB of RAM and options for 256 GB or 512 GB SSD storage. It also features two microphones and two speakers with Dolby Atmos for an enhanced audio experience.

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge is powered by a 61.2 Wh battery, supporting 65 W USB-C charging. Connectivity options include USB-C, USB-A 3.2, HDMI 2.1, a memory card reader, and a headphone jack.
