Infineon And Green Hills Collab On Next-Gen Automotive Processing Platform

Infineon Technologies AG and Green Hills Software LLC have collaborated to introduce an integrated microcontroller-based processing platform tailored for safety-critical real-time automotive systems. Combining Green Hills’ safety-certified real-time operating system (RTOS) µ-velOSity with Infineon’s latest safety controllers AURIX TC4x, the platform offers original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 suppliers a dependable, safe, and secure processing solution.

This integration supports the development of domain and zonal controllers as well as drivetrains for electric vehicles within the next-generation software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures.

Infineon’s Senior Director for Software, Partnership, and Ecosystem Management, Thomas Schneid, highlighted the synergy between Green Hills’ software environment and Infineon’s advanced microcontroller products, emphasizing the advantage it offers to customers in meeting critical requirements.

Collaboration in Action: Infineon Technologies and Green Hills Software LLC unveil an integrated microcontroller-based processing platform for safety-critical real-time automotive systems, combining Green Hills’ µ-velOSity RTOS with Infineon’s AURIX TC4x safety controllers.

Dan Mender, Vice President of Business Development at Green Hills Software, expressed excitement about extending the collaboration with Infineon and showcasing the joint solution at Embedded World 2024. He emphasized how the combination of Infineon’s scalable microcontroller family AURIX TC4x and Green Hills’ µ-velOSity RTOS empowers customers to develop safe and secure systems for the next generation of SDV electronic/electrical (E/E) architectures.

The development of advanced automotive electronic control units (ECUs) is crucial for adapting vehicle E/E architectures to SDVs. Addressing this need, Infineon introduces its new family of AURIX TC4x devices, which offer higher performance and advanced features while meeting safety-critical system requirements. Green Hills’ safety-certified µ-velOSity RTOS has been ported to the AURIX TC4x family to meet stringent safety standards.

Infineon’s AURIX TC4x family supports high-speed interfaces, ensuring sufficient communication bandwidth for future automotive systems. Green Hills’ µ-velOSity RTOS targets the highest functional safety levels (ISO 26262 ASIL D), offering efficient, reliable operation with fast boot and streamlined execution.

The joint solution will be showcased at embedded world 2024, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to experience its capabilities firsthand. Infineon will also present its products and solutions for decarbonization and digitalization at the event.
