A new month is upon us, and for Lego, it’s one of the biggest in a while: after a relatively quiet July, the brick-builder is truly kicking off summer with an update on huge swaths of new Lego sets—from almost every corner of its offerings.
That’s right, there’s new Lego Star Wars, new Lego Marvel Superhero sets, new Lego Batman for the Animated Series fan in your life, and so, so much more: seriously, this is a huge month of releases that’ll keep you in the shade and building bricks all day and night long. August 2024 Lego Animal Crossing Sets
Two new releases in Lego’s latest Nintendo collaboration bring K.K. Slider to your Lego island, or let you jet away from said island with the arrival of New Horizons‘ Dodo Airlines.
August 2024 Lego Star Wars Sets
It’s big month for Lego Star Wars—and not just because the new Lego special, Rebuild the Galaxy, is hitting Disney+ and the toy shelves with some wild new sets. There’s also a bunch beyond that, including new sets big and small to celebrate Lego Star Wars‘ ongoing 25th anniversary, Ahsoka, the new Skeleton Crew series, and even the greatest celebration of all: putting silly hats on droids.
Lego Creator 3-in-1 Modern House
The sole Creator release for the month will fit right into your perfect Lego suburbia, with three options to build a beach house, a single-story cabin, or a three-story city build. ($100, available here)
August 2024 Lego DREAMZzz Sets
The latest releases for Lego’s fantastical web series go buck wild, with giant mecha dinosaurs, giant regular-mecha, and even a grand, colorful castle. Also: cat bikes!
August 2024 Lego Marvel Superhero Sets
It’s also the biggest month for Marvel in a long time, with several marquee sets alongside smaller offerings. The absolute highlight is a brand new build of the Milano from the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but there’s also a delightful recreation of the iconic Avengers team shot from the opening of Age of Ultron, and a swanky new model of a SHIELD Helicarrier.
Lego Disney Encanto Antonio’s Animal Sanctuary
The new Encanto set puts Mirabel and Antonio among some friendly animals to play with. ($40, available here)
August 2024 Lego Super Mario Sets
Lego’s interactive Super Mario line gets a power mushroom-esque boost this month, with not just a bunch of new level expansions for you to build around, but three new starter sets that each come with one of the three main electronic figures: Mario, Luigi, and now Princess Peach too!
August 2024 Lego Jurassic World Sets
This trio of Jurassic sets takes inspiration from the Netflix animated series Chaos Theory, but honestly… just look how cute that baby Ankylosaurus is!
Lego Ideas Jaws
Lego’s latest crowdsourced set takes us back to Spielberg’s cinematic classic, including of course the legendary shark itself, as well as minifigures of Brody, Hooper, and Quint. ($150, available here)
August 2024 Lego City Sets
Lego’s latest City sets get back more to the City side of things rather than the sci-fi spacebound bent they’ve had recently, but that doesn’t stop one kinda-spacey thing from standing out: a very fun themed coaster ride.
August 2024 Lego Technic Sets
It’s an expensive month if you’re into Technic. There’s a ton of great new sets, but they’ve mostly got huge price tags. The standout for us, of course, is the sole space representation this month: a Lunar rover!
Lego Travel Moments
This cute take on a vacation photo display includes both a mini map of the world and a buildable plane to place your pictures around. ($150, available here)
August 2024 Lego Sonic the Hedgehog Sets
There’s just not so much Sonic to be found in this month’s sets: the real deal is for Shadow, who we’ll hopefully get to see in Sonic 3 footage sometime soon.
August 2024 Lego Batman Sets
Batman’s back with a vengeance between Caped Crusader and these new Lego sets. None are based on the new show, but the Dark Knight’s animated legacy is touched upon with this sweet take on the Animated Series Batmobile.
