Luggage inspired by historical design icons – from the time when every trip was an adventure

If you travel well, you should have good luggage to go with it. We use only high-quality and sustainable materials for our products, such as buffalo leather and cotton. These original fabrics give our weekender, backpacks and duffle bags their authentic identity. They have to go through over a hundred steps of handwork. Each piece of luggage is unique, with its own soul. In addition, socially responsible, sustainably produced and affordable through distribution without intermediaries.

QUALITY THAT YOU CAN FEEL

High quality leather without synthetic

Our leather is full grain and solid. Without tricks. We completely avoid the plastic lamination that is common in the industry. Our leather is vegetable tanned to the greatest extent possible and sustainable. Our upper and lining fabrics are made of 100% cotton. Our outer materials are not additionally laminated with plastic.

Genuine handwork and real craftsmanship

Our bags are almost completely handmade in many individual steps. Many old craft techniques and machines are used in the process. Our master bag makers & saddlers need years of training to produce bags of this quality. Each bag is an original with its own soul.

Attention to detail – Authentic design

We get inspiration for our product design from our travels, history books and historical travelogues. To revive the iconographic design of the 19th and 20th centuries, we combine original craftsmanship with the current zeitgeist. For us, every detail counts.

We are Daniel and Christoph and we are living our dream. Although we are both fundamentally different, we still share one great passion: traveling. We founded the label DRAKENSBERG because we want to inspire people to recognize the true value of travel and to strive for it. To understand the journey as a goal and to grow from it. Because we believe a good journey can change a whole life.

3000 km across South Africa

The journey that changed our lives took us across South Africa almost 20 years ago. When we wanted to drive by car from Cape Town to the Drakensberg Mountains. And there, however, should never arrive. But it turned out differently. We lost our heart to South Africa. To the hospitality, the breathtaking landscapes, the incredible wildlife and of course to Braai and South African wine. The South-African-Way-of-Life.

The path is the goal of every good journey

It quickly became clear that we would not reach the Drakensberg. Quickly we realized that it was not that important anymore. The realization matured in us what the essence of a good trip is. It’s not about checking off places on a list and quickly snapping a few souvenir photos. A good trip is about learning. About life and about yourself. The DRAKENSBERG brand will always remind us of that. Because the journey was our real goal.
